Over the last few years, I have experimented with several product lines to find the best fit. One such company is Portland General Store. This simple line created by Lisa of Portland Maine is a very basic yet exquisite group of products. I use the face bomb wash and tobac body cream on a daily basis. Created from simple and natural ingredients, this brand has exploded over the last few months, placing products in specialty boutiques around the world. They have also been featured in several men's magazine editorials over the last year. Find on Etsy.

The Modern Man's Bachelor's Party
I read an interesting article this morning in the New York Times. As a food critic and amateur culinary artist, this resonates deeply with me. The last thing I want to do the night before my wedding is go to a gentlemen's club. Let me instead share an incredible meal with a few choice friends. following is the article in full.

New Denim
I have completely destroyed my current pair of APC New Cure. It was a good 2 years, but I think its time to retire them. Next up, the Naked & Famous Skinny Guy in Indigo Greyfill. Made in Canada from Japanese selvedge denim, these are an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore premium denim or supplement an existing obsession. I am obviously the later.

Cooking Class
Last sunday I visited some friends and had an informal cooking class with the girls. We prepared a cod en perillade with nantes carrots and asparagus coins. For dessert we had a cream biscuit shortcake with strawberries and whipped cream. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed sharing my passion for simple food and helping the girls learn a few new tricks. Thanks Jess for the pics.
Jens Risom
I have been hunting down some of these iconic pieces lately. Jens Risom has become one of my favorite mid century designers. Following are some of the seating options I am looking at.

Pearl
Recent events have left me thinking about Pearls. The simple strand of pearls or pearl earing is an understated and yet feminine accent to the woman's wardrobe. It adds an element of class and tribute to those who iconified this simple stone.

Arrival
I know everyone out there is talking about it, so I had to put in my 2 cents. The new Iphone 4 from Apple is beautiful and technologically innovative all at once. Proof once again that Steve and his team really are the Kings of Creativity. As an owner of an android device, I must say that their are still features missing n Apple's latest offering, but my phone pales is comparison to the Tour de Force Apple's design team has presented. Hoping this one comes to Verizon soon.

Feminism Lost
It seems to me that women have lost touch with the feminine mystique. They have forgotten that creativity and mystery are the essence of class. More and more I see women scantily clad or dressed without any thought to coordination or homage to figures of the past. It doesn't take much to impress. Pick a theme and stick to it. Something simple. Make sure the clothes are of good quality and most important, that they fit. I yearn to see women such as those that follow on my next outing through the city.
